Salikenni residents, many of whom are youths, embarked on a massive tree planting exercise in the community as part of efforts in combating climate change in the country.

The atmosphere was charged with a sense of unity and purpose as the group prepared to embark on their mission to combat climate change.

With shovels hitting the ground and saplings finding their new homes, the volunteers shared stories, laughter, and knowledge, forming new connections and strengthening existing bonds.

“The Salikenni Youths Association’s dedication and passion have left an indelible mark on the fight against climate change,” the association said, adding that “Their story serves as a beacon of hope and resilience, reminding us all that even the smallest actions can make a significant difference. Together, we can create a greener and more sustainable world for generations to come.”

“The collective effort and passion displayed by the participants were truly heartwarming, demonstrating the power of community engagement in tackling environmental challenges,” the community youth association said in a statement.

“In a remarkable display of unity and environmental consciousness, the Salikeñni Youths Association (SYA) has successfully organized a large-scale tree planting campaign to combat the pressing issue of climate change. What makes this initiative truly exceptional is the overwhelming support it has received from the urban community, with people from all walks of life joining hands to contribute to a greener cause. Driven by a shared vision of creating a sustainable and greener future, the SYA recognized the crucial role that trees play in mitigating the effects of climate change.

“Determined to make a difference, they embarked on an ambitious mission to involve as many people as possible, especially those from the urban community who often feel disconnected from nature. The news of the SYA’s noble initiative quickly spread throughout the village and beyond, capturing the attention and hearts of local residents and city dwellers alike. Eager to contribute to a greener cause, individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups came forward to join the tree planting campaign.”
