Upon his arrival from UK on Wednesday night, The Minister of Information of The Gambia Lamin Queen Jammeh was spotted at the Banjul International Airport where he was interviewed by the host of Semester Avenue.
The Minister, while questioned about his appointment, first thanked President Adama Barrow for appointing him as the Minister of Information and will do his utmost to ensure that expectations are fulfil.
‘’I am thankful to the President because he alone is responsible of that other than Allah, and I will therefore, try my very best to fulfil the expectations that he has in me and also fulfil the expectations that the country has in government’’
Elaborating his feeling of being a Minister, Jammeh expressed his happiness, saying it is an opportunity to be at that position, serving your country. ‘’Very proudly, I am serving my country, and I think it is noble for one to have the opportunity to serve your country in responsible capacity. That is part is something that I really feel proud of.’’
On the Ministry’s current efforts to coop with the split, he added, ‘’relatively, because the period is not that much long and what we are trying to do is to structure the ministry in the 1st place. You will remember that the ministry of Information, Communications and Infrastructure were together but they have been decoupled now. In fact, last week on Monday, I went to the premises of Digital Economy; so what remain now is for us to structure Information Ministry at GRTS building.
Other than that, you will remember that our core function is to get the public inform about government activities and development projects. Department of Information Services has their newspaper that we are working on.’’
Semester Avenue continues to welcome semester at the Banjul International Airport where many Gambian semesters expressed their excitements about visiting their country.
